Awqaf minister, Sudanese counterpart talk joint cooperation

Ammon News - Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Holy Sites, Dr. Mohammad Khalayleh, said Jordan and Sudan have "close brotherly" relations.

The two countries have signed joint work agreements at the level of endowments and religious affairs, aimed to exchange Islamic publications and research and hold training courses to develop preachers' skills, reject extremism and create a moderate religious rhetoric, Khalayleh said at a meeting Sunday, with Sudanese Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments, Dr. Nassr Al-din Mufrih, Jordan News Agency Petra reported.

The ministry, Khalayleh noted, is making a "remarkable" effort in the guidance field and "balanced" religious discourse, in addition to its work in managing endowment affairs, and organizing Hajj (pilgrimage) and Umrah (Lesser Pilgrimage) matters.

The ministry has also carried out programs that have so far benefited more than 7,000 Jordanian indebted women since its launch, Khalayleh said, according to Petra.

Khalayleh affirmed the ministry's readiness to provide its expertise in partnership with the Sudanese Ministry of Religious Affairs, to serve its work and Islam's tolerant and moderate message.

Mufrih, for his part, praised the "huge" efforts made by the Jordanian Awqaf ministry to serve Islam's moderate and tolerant message.

Mufrih also said Sudanese side is looking forward to benefiting from Jordanian ministry's programs and plans in developing religious guidance and managing endowments and digital transformation, adding that Jordanian ministry has made "remarkable and pioneering" development in these areas.
