Ammon News - Hussein Safadi, CEO of the Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC), the executive arm of the The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), stressed the importance of the ADC's "exceptional" role in serving ports and berths, as ports are "main and vital" means in Jordan's trade exchange operations with neighboring countries.

Checking on progress in the ADC's operations on Sunday, Safadi said the marine services enjoy a "distinguished" reputation in providing a comprehensive range of world-class marine services with the "highest" standards of safety and environmental preservation, and keeping pace with marine activities through its trained and qualified workers to align with recent developments related to port and marine work.

In turn, Director General of Aqaba Port Marine Services Company (APMSCO), Dirk Wijnen, said the company seeks to improve and develop the services provided to ships that dock in port of Aqaba, which would preserve its position as a key international company working in the marine services field.

APMSCO is carrying out duties "effectively" according to the latest international specifications, in addition to dealing with emergencies in Gulf of Aqaba, and supporting maritime navigation in the Kingdom, he pointed out.

Wijnen said APMSCO fleet is "highly" prepared to deal with all types of ships of large and sensitive sizes, and dock them according to the "highest" levels of safety on Aqaba Port's berths.

APMSCO placed its marine vessels during the Covid-19 pandemic to serve Aqaba ports and the maritime sector, and the relevant authorities to the crisis' repercussions, according to Wijnen.

APMSCO, an important link in the Jordanian maritime transport chain, owns a fleet of tugboats, which enhances competitiveness of the Aqaba port. Last year, the company has docked 1572 ships on Aqaba ports despite the Covid-19 pandemic non- stop, especially during blanket and partial curfews.
