Ammon News - The National Center for Human Rights (NCHR) called for striking a balance between nature protection and environmental rights for humans on one hand and investment in Dana Biosphere Reserve on the other.

The NCHR, in a statement, said that the center has followed up on the Cabinet’s decision on entrusting the Environment Ministry with resetting the borders of the reserve to begin copper mining.

The international human rights conventions aimed at enhancing environmental responsibilities to future generations, the statement said, calling for activating the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

Based on its biodiversity, the reserve constitutes part of the national identity, the statement stressed, adding that the reserve was added to UNESCO’s World Heritage Convention list and considered as one of the most important natural sites regionally and internationally.
