Ammon News - The Afghan Civil Aviation Administration officially reopened Kabul airport for domestic and international flights Saturday after the Taliban's takeover of the country.

The Afghan Khaama Press Agency said that the airstrips and passenger terminals at Kabul Airport were severely damaged during the chaotic US withdrawal and a deadly attack near the facility on August 26.

Technicians from Qatar and Turkey have helped operate Kabul Airport as the first domestic flight departed from the Afghan capital on September 4.

The first international flight after the withdrawal of US forces took off from Kabul to Doha on September 9, and four days later, the first commercial aircraft that arrived from Islamabad landed at the airport.
