Ammon News - President of the Syndicate of Owners of Clearance and Cargo Transport Companies, Dhaifallah Abu Aqoula, on Sunday appealed to the government to reopen the Mudwara and Durra border crossings with Saudi Arabia.
In a statement, Abu Aqoula said that the two crossings are essential for the trade movement with Gulf states and Egypt, in view of the high market demands and the Saudi request of reopening them.
"Closing the crossings since the covid-19 pandemic began has disadvantaged the national economy in terms of losing transit lines for trucks coming from Egypt towards Saudi Arabia and vice versa, while the cessation of commercial exchange through Durra crossing in Aqaba has picked up the costs as trucks coming to the Kingdom had to divert their route further to Omari crossing in Zarqa Governorate," he added.
