The Jordanian-European Parliamentary Friendship Association on Tuesday described His Majesty King Abdullah's visit to Russia as important as it came at a critical time, in light of the developments in the region and the world that require concerted efforts to prevent them from worsening.

"We extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to his Majesty the King, who made an exceptional effort in a series of meetings during his visit to Russia with President Vladimir Putin to enhance bilateral cooperation, economic opportunities, and the joint alliance and to highlight Jordan’s leading role in promoting peace and stability in the region," association chairman, MP Khaldoun Hina, said in a press release.

"We confirm our absolute support for all the positions of his Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein, which seek to strengthen strategic relations between the two friendly countries, launch a stage of understandings between the leaders of the region and speak with the major powers on this basis, which was reflected through Russia’s stay within the tracks of the Palestinian cause and the peace process, where it is a strong supporter of a two-state solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and a supporter of Jordan's special role as custodian of Islamic and Christian sites in Jerusalem," the statement went on.

He said "this exceptional" visit underlined the King's constant concern for the security of Jordan and the Arab countries amid the turbulence in the region, which requires a secure environment to launch economic projects, particularly in the field of energy.
