Container volume in Aqaba port down by 8% over January-July period 2021

Ammon News - The volume of exported and imported containers cleared in Aqaba port saw a decrease by 8.2%, during the January-July period of 2021, according to figures issued by Jordan Navigation Syndicate (JNS) on Sunday.

Over seven months, exported and imported containers dropped to about 433,000 to the end of last July, compared to about 471,000 in the same period last year, due to the soaring maritime freight rates globally, the data showed.

In last July, exported and imported containers at Aqaba port went down by 12% to 59,000, compared to 67,000 for the same period last year, the JNS's figures revealed.

Meanwhile, the number of vehicles exported and imported through Aqaba port over the first seven months 2021 dropped by 2%, compared to about 64,000 for the same period last year.
