Ammon News - An agreement to use the Concentrating Solar Power System has been sealed between the Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) and the Wahaj Investments L.L.C.

Under the agreement, the JPMC will install Wahaj’s innovative design of metallic reflectors, called the ASC technology, to provide a high source of heat for the phosphate dryers in Jordan's Shedyeh mine to reduce the solid’s moisture content.

In a statement on Wednesday, JPMC Chairman Abdul Wahab Al-Rowad said the use of this technology will significantly reduce fuel consumption and phosphate production costs, which will thereby boost the company’s sales and increase its access to international markets.

"Signing the agreement stems from the company's confirmation of the value of exploiting solar energy, which is a strategic choice sought by many countries of the world in order to achieve diversification in their energy sources," Al-Rowad added.

Recently, the JPMC developed plans to move towards the use of the clean renewable energy in the phosphate manufacturing, a step that will significantly reduce production costs, generate job opportunities, diminish environmental pollution, and ensure energy security.
