Ammon News - A heat wave that affected the Kingdom over the last week will start to subside on Sunday, as temperatures slightly dip, becoming around annual average and making relatively hot weather in the highlands and the plains, and hot conditions in other regions, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said.

The department warned of direct exposure to sunlight at noon, mainly in the Badia, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba, and of poor visibility due to dust in the desert.

Monday is expected to bring in similar weather conditions, with low clouds in the northern part of the country and northwesterly moderate winds, the JMD added.

Toward Tuesday, mercury levels will rise few degrees, so scorching weather will prevail in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba, while relatively hot conditions will persist in the hilly areas and the plains, the forecasters noted.

The highs in Amman and other highlands across the Kingdom on Sunday will range between 29 and 30 degrees Celsius, dropping at night to 24C or even 19C in the southern highlands.

In the Gulf city of Aqaba, it will be much hotter with mercury reaching a high of 42C and a low of 27C.
