Ammon News - Lower House Speaker Abdel Moneim Awdat and his Iraqi counterpart Mohammad Al-Halbousi said Monday that Jordan and Iraq need to build on the outcomes of a recent summit between His Majesty King Abdullah II, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, to further cement cooperation towards achieving strategic integration between the three "brotherly" countries.

They said during talks in Amman today that Jordanian-Iraqi relations are solid and constantly growing, stressing the importance of boosting parliamentary cooperation and coordinating positions to serve their interests and Arab issues, top of which is the Palestinian cause.

Audat said Jordan supports efforts to enhance Iraq's stability, adding that the three-way summit sets a new phase in joint cooperation to guarantee the security and stability of the three countries and draw a road map for joint investment projects that meets the aspirations of their people and enhances their potentials to face regional crises and challenges.

He expressed support for Iraq's efforts to consolidate its security and sovereignty and prevent interference in its affairs, noting that a unified and secure Iraq is
a key pillar of regional security and stability, praising Iraqi sacrifices in combatting terrorism and the Daesh terror gangs.

For his part, the Iraqi parliament's head valued Jordan's support for his country to counter the forces of extremism and terrorism, stressing that Baghdad continued to consolidate its security and national sovereignty.

He said that enhanced parliamentary cooperation is in the interest of the two countries and serves pan-Arab and Islamic issues, foremost of which is the Palestinian issue, stressing the role of the historical Hashemite custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
