Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA) President Hamdi Al-Tabbaa Saturday discussed with Azerbaijani Ambassador Eldar Nadir oglu Saliomov prospects of cementing economic ties and cooperation between the business community in the two countries.

The JBA said in a press release that Al-Tabbaa stressed the importance of expanding the scope of joint investments, and "benefiting from the promising opportunities the two countries have in the many promising sectors."

He spoke about the JBA's role in promoting the business and investment environment in the Kingdom through the joint business councils and increasing cooperation with the various countries in trade and economic fields, noting that the association and the Azeri Export and Investment Promotion Foundation are linked with a memorandum of understanding.

Al-Tabbaa called on the Azeri business community to see first-hand the investment opportunities in Jordan, as the Kingdom is "a safe destination" for business, with diverse opportunities in the various sectors, especially health, tourism, communications, information technology and education.

For his part, Salimov stressed the importance of finding new scopes of cooperation "in the near future to enhance the level of bilateral trade and achieve the common economic benefits."

The ambassador pointed out that Jordanian-Azeri relations are constantly growing, noting that royal visits in the past years had led to the signing of many agreements in the economic, trade and cultural fields.

He stressed the importance of enhancing bilateral trade and expanding and diversifying the base of goods exchanged between the two countries, which contributes to improving the trade volume, noting that the Azeri private sector is interested in investment in Jordan.
