The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources' fuel pricing committee Saturday decided to raise the prices of oil derivatives for the month of August by about 2.4 per cent.

According to the committee’s decision, the selling price of 90-octane gasoline will go up JD0.020 to JD0.830 per litre, 95-octane gas will be increased by JD0.030 to JD1.070 per litre, diesel by JD0.010 to JD0.615 per litre, and kerosene by JD0.010 to JD0.615 per litre. The price of a cooking gas cylinder was fixed at JD7.00.

The committee announced the price hike during its monthly meeting to set the selling prices in the local market based on global petroleum prices.

The committee said a review of global crude and oil derivatives' prices during the month of July showed a "noticeable" rise during the month of July.

Benchmark Brent crude rose to $75 per barrel in the month of July, compared to $72.9 per barrel in June, it said.
