Funded companies under Jordan Growth Programme announced

Ammon News - The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship announced Wednesday 21 companies that have benefited from the "Jordan Growth Programme (Businesses Development).

The programme offers grants of up to $100,000 to companies working in Jordanian digital sector to cover 50% of costs of their plans to develop their business and export their products to new markets.


During the ceremony to announce the winning companies, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Ahmed Hanandeh, said the ministry signed agreements with companies to benefit from the programme’s incentives.


Hanandeh called on digital companies to make the "best" use of incentives to expand and develop their businesses in the local and foreign markets, which would provide new job opportunities for Jordanian youth.


The ministry will follow up on the beneficiary companies to ensure achievement of the programme's goals, based on its role as an enabler of Jordan's digital economy and a supporter of digital companies to increase their contribution to the national economy and provide job opportunities, he pointed out.


The programme, he said, aims to provide grants and incentives to Jordanian digital companies to build links with potential clients and partners in regional and global markets, as well as secure new contracts in new regional and international markets such as the Gulf Cooperation Council, Europe, China, India, and the United States of America, and thus create job opportunities. Contribute to reducing poverty and unemployment rates in Jordan.


For his part, Deputy British Ambassador to Jordan, Richard Moon, said the UK is pleased to work alongside the ministry and the World Bank through its support for the Youth, Technology and Jobs project.

The programme, the diplomat noted, stimulates digital companies in Jordan to grow and create new job opportunities, stressing that this will enable Jordan's private sector to develop its business and export its products to new markets.
