Ammon News - Jordan National Society for Consumer Protection (NSCP) has prepared a study on the changes that occurred on 96 commodities prices during June, compared to last May.
In a NSCP press statement issued Wednesday, the study showed an increase in prices of 12 foodstuff and consumer goods by 14.5% , while 8 goods were down by 27.4%, mostly seasonal vegetables and fruits, however 76 goods consumer cost remained stable.
Some types of vegetables, such as tomatoes, were up by 50%, and prices of poultry table eggs hiked by 11.11%, while cost of meat sold at the local market remained unchanged, the NSCP's study revealed.
The study showed "successive" hikes for some basic commodities, which require measures to deliver quality quantities to the market, in "appropriate" prices in light of the recent high freight costs.
