The Kingdom imported 2074 thousand tons of crude oil through the southern port of Aqaba, while the total quantities of Iraqi oil imported in 2020 amounted to about 2.258 million barrels of oil through the Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company (JOPetrol).
The strategic stockpile owned by the government and stored in Al-Madhuna was enhanced by 20 thousand tons of gasoline 90, 10 thousand tons of 95 gasoline and 52 thousand tons of diesel Euro 5, according to a report published on the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources website.
The report indicated that the strategic stockpile system for crude oil and oil derivatives was issued, and work was done to increase the storage capacities of liquefied petroleum gas in Al-Madhuna by about 6 thousand tons, where the completion rate in the project was about 79.5 percent.
In the field of natural gas, work has been done on diversifying natural gas sources, as the implementation of the North Gas Pipeline project has been completed and the supply of natural gas from the North supply point has begun in early 2020, and the needs of natural gas power plants have been covered by relying on imported natural gas through the Sheikh Sabah port for liquefied natural gas in Aqaba and Egypt and through the Noble Energy Company, in addition to the gas produced from the Risha gas field.
The report said that the production capacity of the Risha field was raised to about 27 million cubic feet after the discovery of three gas-producing wells, while the contribution of Risha gas to electric power generation in 2020 was 2.1 percent.
The production of the Risha gas field amounted to about 5318 million cubic feet, at a daily rate of 14.6 million cubic feet, an increase of 1925 and by 57 percent compared to 2019.
In the field of oil and oil shale, an agreement was signed to develop the Hamza oil field to increase the productivity of the wells operating in the Hamza field, where the improvement of the field's infrastructure was completed with the National Petroleum Company.
The system of projects for the exploitation of petroleum, oil shale, coal, and strategic minerals was also issued, and work began on preparing the instructions to be issued accordingly.
The report noted that the number of surface oil shale distillation areas and open areas for investment in deep oil shale distillation reached 21, and work was done to rehabilitate 4 wells in Hamza field to increase their daily production.
