Ammon News - Jordan Chamber of Commerce vice president Jamal Rifai Monday discussed with Belarusian non-resident ambassador Yuri Sluka ways and means of cementing Jordanian-Belarusian economic relations.

The chamber said in a press release said Rifai reaffirmed the commercial sector's keenness to work jointly with the Belarusian private sector to enhance relations in the various economic fields, noting that trade exchange between the two countries is below ambitions.

He stressed the need to activate signed agreements and "find a new cooperation mechanism that is compatible with the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic," urging the Belarusian side to make use of the investment opportunities in the Kingdom.

Rifai also called on the Belarusian side to offer facilities and abolish visa requirements for Jordanian businessmen to enhance bilateral trade, and proposed holding a joint economic forum to discuss investment opportunities in the two parties.

The Belarusian envoy said his country is keen on building economic relations with Jordan as a gateway to regional markets, and to stimulate the private sector to launch joint ventures.

He proposed setting up a joint business forum as a key step toward boosting ties between the business community and increase trade and investment between the two countries.
