A host of sectors and businesses will reopen Tuesday after more than a year of closure forced by the breakout of the coronavirus pandemic. The reopening is part of the first phase of a far-reaching plan the government hopes will give additional thrust to post-Covid recovery.

The businesses and sectors that will reopen tomorrow include sport academies, fitness centers and gyms, billiards and snooker clubs, public swimming pools as well as those located inside hotels. They also include educational, cultural, and technical centers, academies, vocational training centers, health clubs and Turkish baths.

As for the leisure and entertainment sector, the businesses that will reopen Tuesday are cinemas, theme parks, children's play areas, and electrical and electronic games centers.

According to the government's plan announced last week, these businesses will have to apply to the relevant government entity and undertake to apply infection prevention controls.

Specifically, they will have to provide a proof that their staff have received the first shot of any Covid vaccine 12 days prior to reporting to work. Moreover, these businesses are required to welcome customers who are vaccinated 21 days prior to their visit, except for those under 18 and those who are not eligible for vaccination.

The first phase of the plan, which will remain in effect through next September, requires the aforementioned businesses and sector to operate at 50 percent of their guest capacity, in addition to assigning a health officer from their staff to ensure adherence to health protocols.
