Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi on Saturday handed over the keys of new houses to 21 beneficiary families in Zarqa’s Dulail and Azraq districts as part of the Royal initiative for housing for underprivileged families, and checked on the comprehensive blueprint project in Azraq.

The initiative, which was launched in 2005, and covers all the Kingdom’s governorates, aims at providing decent and stable lives for beneficiary families that are chosen according to the Ministry of Social Development’s criteria.

During a meeting in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Administration Tawfiq Kreishan and Public Works and Housing Minister Yahya Kisbi, Issawi held a meeting at the Azraq Reserve to check on the comprehensive blueprint project in Azraq, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The project includes preparing a development plan that takes into consideration the fact that Azraq is the eastern gate of Jordan and utilising the strengths of the area and its ability to attract proper investments in a way that preserve its resources, contributes to developing the livelihood of its residents and provides jobs.

During the meeting, which was preceded by a tour on locations of the project, Issawi said that His Majesty King Abdullah always stresses the importance of improving the conditions of various areas of the Kingdom and establishing attractive development and tourist schemes with the aim of developing services and infrastructure in these areas.

He also said that the Royal Hashemite Court takes the responsibility of coordinating efforts between all stakeholders to realise tangible progress in the comprehensive blueprint of the area in a way that contributes to improve the environment and develop the status of the area. 

Kreishan said that the visit aimed at checking on the work progress of the project and listening from stakeholders about the project that is envisioned to develop the area.
