Conference on innovation, modern trends in engineering concludes

Ammon News - The first international conference on "Innovation and Modern Trends in Engineering, Technology and Science Education 2021", organised by Princess Sumaya University for Technology’s (PSUT) King Abdullah II School of Engineering, in cooperation with the Faculty of Engineering at Al Ahliyya Amman University and with the support of IEEE Jordan Branch, has concluded virtually with wide international participation.

The two-day conference focused on 15 papers that are due to be published in the global IEEE Xplore database in the field of engineering and technical education and its worldwide transformations.

The aim of the conference was to exchange ideas and efforts in the development of learning and education in these areas, according to a PSUT statement.

The chairman of the conference, Belal Sababha, the dean of the King Abdullah II School of Engineering, said that the conference came in recognition of the great transformations that are taking place in the fields of engineering and technical education.

It also addressed the necessity of keeping pace with future work and its changes, and what labour markets require from graduates in line with the reports of the World Economic Forum, in addition to helping students to acquire skills and competencies that will enable them to keep pace with the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the consequences of the pandemic, the statement said.

Sababha praised “the accuracy and comprehensiveness of the international participations”. He noted that the percentage of accepted research in the conference was about 42 per cent, and stressed the importance of reflecting the outcomes and recommendations of the conference on the practical and teaching aspects.

Bassam Al Mahasneh, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Al Ahliyya Amman University, explained the important role that scientific research centres play at Al Ahliyya Amman University in promoting and revitalising the scientific research movement.

He highlighted the university’s efforts to establish events that bring together human minds in various Jordanian, Arab and international scientific disciplines.

Mahasneh affirmed that holding this event means presenting new research and studies published in the name of the university, which raises its ranking and international standing.

It also serves to develop relations between students from various universities and enriches their experiences with researchers from outside the university and international experts from outside the Kingdom, read the statement.

Researchers from Jordan, China, the UAE, the US, Qatar, Portugal, Pakistan, Greece, and Saudi Arabia participated in the conference.
