Inflation rises 0.07 per cent in first quarter

Ammon News - The consumer price index or inflation rose 0.07 per cent in the first quarter of the year to reach 101.78 against 101.71 for the same period of 2020, according to Department of Statistics latest figures.

It said in its monthly report Monday that the index for the month of March rose 0.16 per cent to 102.21, compared to 102.05 in the same month last year.

On the monthly level, the price index rose 0.29 per cent in the month of March to 102.21, compared to 101.91 in February, it said.

As for the basic consumer price index for the month of March this year, which is measured by excluding the most volatile commodities of the food, fuel, lighting and transportation category, it recorded 68.64, compared to 68.28 during the same month last year, marking an increase of 0,97 per cent, it said.

On the cumulative level, the basic consumer price index for first quarter months of the year was 69.04, compared to 68.24 in the same period last year, recording an increase of 1.17 per cent, the figures showed.
