Jordan Chamber of Commerce president Nael Kabariti Monday urged the government to draw up an "urgent rescue plan" for the commercial and service sectors that halted business due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In a press statement, he also called for reducing partial curfew hours and abolishing blanket Friday lockdowns, particularly during the month of Ramadan, complaining that commercial sectors "no longer can endure any closures."

He said some sectors, such as garments and footwear, which largely depend on Ramadan sales, to open after evening fast-breaking hours to make up for the losses during the pandemic, while adhering to health and safety measures.

He said that it is essential that commercial and service sectors return to normal to compensate for the big losses they had incurred since the pandemic began, and allow sectors whose businesses were halted to resume, including wedding and celebration halls, exhibition companies, and fitness centers.
