Ammon News - Health Minister Firas Hawari said Tuesday that 196,000 doses of the Sinofarm vaccine arrived in Jordan from China, noting that the epidemiological situation in the Kingdom is "good" with the infrastructure for vaccination in place and the ministry seeking to increase vaccination centers to more than 150.

Hawari, who outlined the challenges facing his ministry during a meeting of the Senate's Health, Environment and Population Committee, said that over a million people have so far registered for vaccination.

He pointed to a shortage of medical cadres in some specialties, adding that the issue will be addressed in the next two weeks along with the oxygen infrastructure and a plan to revamp the health administrative structure.

Head of the committee Yassin Husban said the Kingdom is "living is a real and deep crisis due to the unprecedented number of COVID-19 infections and deaths." He questioned the ministry's plans to streamline the health sector and secure the vaccines.
