Ammon News - The Jordan Chamber of Commerce said Tuesday that food commodities are "available at reasonable prices" in the local market, particularly staple foodstuffs that are on high demand during the holy month of Ramadan due to start next week.

Raed Hamada, foodstuff sector representative at the chamber, told a press conference that the commercial sector completed preparations related to the import and supply of large quantities of food goods for the fasting month, with the exception of some items.

"There is a comfortable and long-term stock of basic foodstuffs locally, especially food with a long shelf life, with the exception of some chilled meat," he said.

Hamada pointed to a stable local market due to strong competition and a variety of choices as well as government controls, commending the traders' "key and positive role" during the exceptional and difficult circumstances due to the pandemic.
