Prime Minister Bisher Al Khasawneh on Thursday met with Lower House Speaker Abdulmuem al-Oddat, members of the House’s permanent office, and heads of parliamentary blocs.
During the meeting at the Lower House, al-Oddat stressed the council keenness implement the Royal visions to consolidate cooperation and partnership between the executive and legislative authorities.
Al-Oddat added that the council will soon start conducting expanded and comprehensive dialogues on legislation governing political life, in order to reach consensus on a comprehensive vision of what is required to be achieved in the next stage, in order to achieve wider popular participation in decision-making.
For his part, al-Khasawneh reiterated Jordan's stance towards a wide range of Middle East issues, with the Palestinian cause at the forefront.
He reaffirms the Hashemite custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, which His Majesty King Abdullah II assumes with all honesty and responsibility, pointing out that Jordan is constantly combating Israeli measures that try to change the legal and historical status quo in Jerusalem.
Improving the laws of election, political parties, and local administration that meet all parties' aspirations is a Royal desire, the prime minister said.
Al-Khasawneh also spoke about a number of key issues including the administrative reform, enhancing the partnership with the lawmakers, and efforts aiming at fighting the novel coronavirus.
