Speaker of the Lower House Abdulmunim Oddat

Ammon News - Jordan's Speaker of the Lower House Abdulmunim Oddat and the Italian Ambassador in Amman Fabio Cassese held talks Monday about the bilateral ties and regional developments.

Oddat said that Jordan lauds Italy for its support for the Palestinians' right to establish their own sovereign state, stressing that the region will never enjoy peace and stability unless a fair settlement to the conflict is reached.

On the refugee crisis that has been sweeping through the Middle East, he said that Jordan has been hosting millions of refugees, noting Italy's role in supporting the Kingdom in this regard.

He emphasized that the Kingdom is still going strong with its reforms in the political life to involve the people in the decision-making process.

In turn, Cassese acknowledged Jordan's role in upholding regional peace and stability, emphasizing his country's keenness to further develop the bilateral ties, especially on food security.

The Italian ambassador reiterated Rome's support for the Palestinians and stressed that a two-state solution would guarantee peace in the region.
