The Ministry of Health announced 63 Covid-19 fatalities and 8,300 new cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Thursday, bringing the death toll to 5,169 and the caseload to 457, 151.

The new infections comprised 4, 289 cases in the capital, Amman, 999 in Irbid, including 69 in the northern border district of Ramtha, 958 in Zarqa, 571 in Balqa, 328 in Karak, 281 in Madaba, 222 in Aqaba, 163 in Jerash, 155 in Mafraq, 114 in Ajloun, 111 in Ma'an, including 11 in the southern region of Petra, and 109 in Tafileh, according to the media statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.

The number of patients who were admitted to hospitals today stood at 446, while 299 cases have recovered and discharged, the statement added.

According to the briefing, the total number of recoveries recorded Thursday, whether at hospitals or at home, stood at 3, 644 bringing the total to 382,949 since the outbreak began.

Moreover, the number of Covid-19 patients still receiving treatment at hospitals countrywide has reached 2, 431, including 292 on ventilators.

The statement also indicated that the number of confirmed and suspected cases on ICU beds has reached 549, or 46% of the total ICU bed occupancy capacity.
With regard to testing, 54,052 tests were conducted Thursday, 15.36 percent of which were positive.

Since last March, the total number of tests administered has increased to 5,053,264, the joint statement noted.
