Disability center inmate dies, employee arrested, says ad hoc committee

An investigation committee, which was set up by the Minister of Social Development, Ayman Mufleh, has referred an employee of a disability center to the public prosecutor, who was later arrested by the judicial authorities, and terminated the services of another employee, due to the death of a 45-year-old inmate with severe disabilities.


In a press statement on Sunday, the ministry the deceased suffered from "intestinal disorders," and was transferred to the hospital and soon died, while his body was referred to the forensic medicine office and an investigation was opened into the accident.


The committee recommended referring the center's employee to the public prosecution, while the other worker was fired on suspicion of negligence in his work, the statement said.


The Ministry noted the investigation committee's work will continue, and any negligence-related case at the center, or any of its staff , will be probed.
