FM, Saudi counterpart talk ties, Middle East peace process

Ammon News - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, and his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, on Wednesday, discussed ways to strengthen the "deep-rooted, fraternal" relations between the two kingdoms and advance them to "broader" horizons of cooperation and coordination, in implementation of the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II And Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz.

During their meeting on the sidelines of the Arab League's 155th session in Cairo, the duo reviewed regional and international developments and efforts made to enhance joint Arab action in facing common challenges.

The talks also went over efforts to re-launch "serious and effective" negotiations to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution and in accordance with the international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, according to a foreign ministry statement.

The discussions also touched on efforts to end the crisis in Yemen, and address tension in the Gulf in a way that guarantees regional relations based on good neighborliness and non-interference in the internal affairs of Arab countries, in addition to other issues of common concern, the statement added.

Safadi affirmed the Kingdom's "strong" condemnation of the Houthi terrorist attacks on Saudi Arabia and Jordan's "full" support and its "absolute" solidarity with Riyadh in any step it takes to protect its security and defend its interests, in implementation of the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, who considers the two kingdoms' security as "inseparable".

Safadi and Prince Faisal agreed to maintain joint coordination and action to protect the two countries' interests, serve Arab causes, and achieve security and stability in the region.
