Deputy Director of the National Centre for Security and Crisis Management (NCSCM) , Brig. Gen. Mazin Faraya, said that "no deaths have been recorded in the Kingdom due to receiving the coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccine."
The number of people registered in the platform designated to receive the vaccine reached 419,405, including 107,000 citizens over the age of 60, by 22 percent, and they are the current target group, as statistics indicate that 85 percent of Covid-19 deaths were for people over the age of 55, Faraya said in a joint press conference held at the Prime Ministry.
He added that 107,615 people received the first dose of the vaccine, more than 59,000 of whom were over the age of 60, underlining the ability to give the vaccine to 20,000 people a day now.
He noted that the population of Jordan is 10.8 million people, 5.6 million of whom will not receive the vaccine during the coming days because they are under the age of 18 or because they were already infected, stressing that the target group of the vaccination is currently about 4.8 million people via 80 vaccination centers.
Brig. Gen. Faraya warned against spreading rumors talking about the negativity of vaccines.
He indicated that messages will be sent to all those who missed their appointments to receive the vaccine next week, explaining that it is the last chance for those who have missed taking the vaccine, and then they will be asked to register again and wait for their turn.
