Jordan records 29 deaths and 5124 new Covid-19 infections

The Ministry of Health said Tuesday it recorded 29 coronavirus deaths and 5,124 cases across the Kingdom, bringing the death toll from the pandemic to 4,756 and the infection caseload to 402,282.

The new infections were: 2,860 in Amman, 914 in Balqa, 336 in Irbid, including 23 in Ramtha district, 229 in Zarqa, 154 in Jerash, 151 in Madaba, 108 in Karak, 100 in Aqaba, 86 in Mafraq, 82 in Ma'an, including 10 in Petra, 68 in Ajloun and 36 cases in Tafileh, according to the daily media brief by the Health Ministry and the Prime Ministry.

It said that the number of currently active COVID-19 cases topped 43,383, including 299 who were admitted to hospitals today, and 190 cases were discharged.

It said that 16,73 cases are now hospitalized and that 1,344 were in isolation wards in hospitals yesterday, at an occupancy rate of 29%, including 353 on ventilators.

The report said that 2,887 cases recovered today in home isolation and in hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries to 354,143.

It also said 37,651 PCR tests were collected today, bringing the total number of examinations since the outbreak to date to 4,678,877, pointing out that the positivity tests for the day was about 13.61%.

The Ministry called for adherence to defence orders and to follow preventive measures, especially wearing masks and not holding gatherings of more than 20 people, and the awareness campaigns it launched in partnership with a number of ministries and entities to prevent infection and to register for vaccination.
