Ammon News - Governor of Ajloun, Salman Najada, on Monday met with UK Ambassador to Jordan, Bridget Brind, for a discussion on the British-funded projects in the northern governorate, the importance of local and environmental tourism and preserving the available opportunities.
The ambassador visited a number of institutions in the governorate, including the National Aid Fund branch, and met a number of beneficiaries of the Jordanian government's emergency social protection program, the British embassy said in a statement.
The statement indicated that the UK has provided £25 million to support the government's efforts to provide cash assistance to 293,000 families affected by the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Fund's Director, Omar Mashaghabeh, said:"Britain has provided important support to the Fund and other stakeholders that partner with us to improve and expand social protection."
The ambassador had visited the Ajloun Forest Reserve, toured the reserve's facilities and the Royal Academy for Nature Conservation (RANC), the first specialized center in nature conservation training in the Arab world, and met with community members working in various fields established by the RANC, to provide them with sustainable livelihood opportunities.
The ambassador toured the football stadium and gymnasium in Ajloun Rock, which was established with British support and serves about 27,000 citizens.
