Ammon News - Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Major Gen. Yousef Huneiti, said the Jordanian Armed Forces - the Arab Army (JAF) will deter whoever attempts to harm Jordan's national security.

The JAF is continuing to exert their utmost efforts to protect the homeland and its capabilities to counter whoever is trying to tamper with the Kingdom's security and stability, Huneiti pointed out.

Huneiti made the remarks during his inspection on Wednesday, of the Second Mechanized Hussein Brigade (Umm al-Shuhada-Mother of Martyrs), a unit of the Eastern Military Region, accompanied by a number of senior JAF officers.

Huneiti listened to a briefing by the military region's commander on its tasks and duties, especially in light of the efforts it is making to prevent all infiltration and smuggling operations that occur on its border fronts and in cooperation with the various security services.

Huneiti praised the continuous efforts made by the Eastern Military Region to confront infiltration and smuggling operations to maintain the Kingdom's social and economic security.

To bolster preparedness, he said the JAF have reinforced the border guard units on the Kingdom's northern and eastern border fronts with special forces and a rapid reaction unit, supported by aircrafts from the Royal Air Force, to be ready around the clock to deal with all forms of infiltration and smuggling and to face the security threats and challenges ravaging the region's countries.
