Spotty showers forecast today in southern region

Ammon News - The Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) on Wednesday forecast that the southern and eastern parts of the Kingdom will remain under the impact of unstable weather conditions, so it will be cold and partly cloudy with spotty showers.

Rainfall is expected to become heavier accompanied by thunder and hail in the early morning hours, the JMD said, adding that cold and stable weather will prevail in the northern and central regions, with northeasterly to northwesterly moderate to brisk winds, blowing dust in at times.

The JMD also warned of slippery roads, flood formation in valleys and lowlands, mainly in the southern areas, and poor visibility due to fog and dust in southern highlands and the Badia.

On Thursday, a slight drop in temperatures is expected, so cold conditions will prevail in the country’s most regions, except in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba where it will be fair, with low-altitude clouds and westerly moderate winds, the JMD noted.

The weather department predicted that mercury levels will rise few degrees on Friday, but similar weather conditions will persist, with the appearance of clouds at various altitudes and a chance of light showers, while winds will be southeasterly moderate to active.

Temperatures in Amman today will reach a high of 15 degrees Celsius, dropping down to 3C at night, while the Gulf of Aqaba will see a fair 24C, dipping to 10C during night hours.
