Ammon News - Some 35 underprivileged families in Ruwaished district in Mafraq Governorate Saturday received the keys of their new homes that were offered under the Royal Initiative for the housing of poor families across the Kingdom.
The initiative, which was launched in implementation of a directive by His Majesty King Abdullah II in 2005, aims to provide a decent and stable life for the beneficiary families, who are most needy and who are selected according to fair and transparent criteria by the Ministry of Social Development.
Royal Court Chief, head of the committee overseeing the implementation of the royal initiatives, Yousef Issawi, handed the keys of the new residences, which are fully furnished and designed in line with high technical standards, to the beneficiary families during a ceremony attended by Minister of Water and Irrigation, Mutassim Saedan and the Mafraq Governor.
Among the families is the father and breadwinner of a household, who had a traffic accident. His Majesty the King had ordered that he receive the necessary treatment and healthcare at his expense, in addition to a new home within the housing initiative.
Also during his tour, Issawi inaugurated the "Environmental Burqa Lodge", which was constructed as part of the royal initiatives projects, a 10-room building with two meeting halls, a restaurant, a kitchen, public facilities and traditional Bedouin tents, with a capacity of 30 people.
The construction of the guest house in the Burqa Reserve was part of a plan to develop ecotourism facilities in nature reserves with the aim of promoting tourism in the eastern desert region and attracting more visitors to the reserves, which will increase economic and social benefits for the local communities and create job opportunities.
