Qatar Charity sends aid convoys to Syrian refugees

Ammon News - Qatar Charity (QC) launched the first aid convoys for Syrian refugees in Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey.

In a press statement issued on Monday, the QC said 200 convoys were dispatched, carrying shelter, food, heating and health supplies to alleviate suffering of Syrian refugees, indicating that these relief deliveries will continue to provide aid to Syrian refugees until March 10.

Overall, the number of Syrian refugees has reached 6.6 million worldwide, of whom 5.5 million are in the countries neighboring Syria, according to recent statistics released by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

About 92% of the refugees live in rural and urban areas, while only 8% live in refugee camps, said the UNHCR.
