Jordanian Free and Development Zones

Ammon News - President of the Jordanian Free and Development Zones (JFDZ), Khalaf Al-Himissat, discussed on Wednesday, with a number of Iraqi investors, ways to enhance the transit and trade volume between the two countries.

Discussions also went over steps to reopen the Karama Free Zone at its strategic location, which is about 8km from the border crossing with Iraq, according to JFDZ press statement.

The JFDZ said the talks were "positive," and their outcomes will "fully" emerge within the next two months, in light of the decisions taken by the committee formed from all relevant authorities to reopen the border free zone.

The JFDZ expressed optimism that this zone, which was established in 2004, will be a new logistical center for re-exporting vehicles and machinery to the Iraqi market and neighboring regional markets, the statement noted.
