Ammon News - Jordan on Tuesday will be affected by an air depression coming from Syria, bringing chilly weather and spotty showers in the northern and central parts of the Kingdom, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily brief.
At night, rainfall will extend to cover other regions and may turn heavier, mainly in the western areas of the country, accompanied by lightning, thunder storms and hail at times, and making floods in the valleys and lowlands, including the Dead Sea, while winds will be southwesterly active with strong gusts exceeding 50 km/hour and blowing dust in the Badia, the JMD added.
The weather department also warned of slippery roads in the areas experiencing rain, poor visibility due to fog, strong winds and of flood formation.
As we head into Wednesday, the impact of the polar front and the depression will deepen, so mercury will significantly drop, bringing bitterly cold and cloudy weather along with heavy rain, accompanied by thunder and hail, and causing flash floods in the valleys and low-lying areas, the meteorologists predicted.
Snow showers are also forecast over the southern mountain peaks of Al-Sharah, the weather forecasters expected, adding that the northern and central highlands of the kingdom may witness showers of rain and snow.
Winds will be northwesterly brisk with strong gusts exceeding 50 km/hour, the JMD said, noting that rain precipitation will gradually taper off by night hours with a possibility of fog formation.
Temperatures in Amman today will be 10 Celsius degrees, dropping to 4C during night hours, while the city of Aqaba will see a high of 21C, sliding into 11C at night.
