Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Mohammad Khalaileh Saturday called for adherence to public safety measures in mosques, particularly as the number of congregations rise after the Friday lockdown was lifted.
During a briefing at the Prime Ministry, the minister stressed cooperation in fighting the coronavirus pandemic and adherence to preventive measures, including spacing in the mosques, wearing masks and compliance with all public safety measures so that mosques remain "beacons of safety and security," and do not become pandemic hotspots.
He said that a key objective of the Islamic law is to protect lives, adding that adherence is a necessity so as not to go back to mosque closures or pray-at-home orders.
