Ammon News - The name of Gauthier Mvumbi Thierry has become recognised across the world after his exploits at the 2021 Handball World Championship.
The 26-year-old pivot, who plays for tournament debutants Democratic Republic of Congo, has become a very recognisable figure.
In his first match against Argentina, he became a sensation. DR Congo lost 28-22 but Mvumbi's sheer size and skill wowed onlookers.
Mvumbi stands 1.92 metres tall and weighs 110 kilograms, although the tournament's website only makes him 1.76 metres tall and 89 kilograms heavy.
During his 11 minutes and 17 seconds on the court against Argentina, Mvumbi scored each of his four chances from six metres.
Dreux AC, a team in the French fourth division that the Congolese international signed for in August, may find themselves receiving a bit more interest in their pivot now.
