Jordan received Monday evening the first tranche of the Pfizer anti-Covid-19 vaccine.
Assistant Secretary-General for Primary Health Care, Ghazi Sharkas, told the Jordan News Agency (Petra), that this step is very important in supporting the national efforts to combat the coronavirus.
He indicated that the tranche of the Pfizer vaccine that arrived today at the Queen Alia International Airport is part of Jordan's allocated share, and the other quantities will arrive, respectively.
Sharkas urged citizens to register for receiving the Covid-19 vaccine, via the link designated for this purpose (vaccine.jo/cvms).
Minister of Health, Nazir Obeidat, had previously announced the start of the national program of vaccination against coronavirus on Wednesday, after receiving the first tranche of the Chinese-Emirati vaccine on Saturday.
After receiving the vaccine shipment at the airport, the Health Ministry staff transferred the vaccine in special refrigerators prepared for this purpose to the vaccination centers in preparation for their use on Wednesday.
Earlier, the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) granted permission for the urgent use of the Pfizer vaccine, while on Sunday it authorized the use of the Chinese-Emirati vaccine (Sinopharm).
