Ammon News - Minister of Health Natheer Obeidat has called on citizens to sign up and take the COVID-19 vaccines, and ignore rumors about the efficacy of vaccination.

The vaccination, due to start Wednesday, will be optional and free of charge, the minister told a Zoom-powered meeting organized yesterday by the Abdul Hameed Shoman Cultural Forum. He stressed that the vaccines are "completely safe and effective", and will have a major impact on the epidemiological situation in the Kingdom.

He said that the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) conducted a 3-week study on the "Sinopharm" vaccine before it was approved, noting that the Kingdom has already participated in the vaccine trials, enabling it to procure quantities of the vaccine early.

With regard to any potential side effects following the administration of the vaccine, Obeidat indicated that there will be a JFDA-affiliated platform that will enable citizens to report any adverse events following the immunization (AEFI).
