Senate panel reviews women's legislative priorities

Ammon News - The Senate's Women Committee, headed by Haifa Najjar, has reviewed an ad hoc study on the legislative priorities related to women's rights.

Speaking during a meeting with head of Coalition of Arab Women MPs to Combat Violence Against Women, Wafa Bani Mustafa, on Sunday, Najjar said Jordanian women were represented in diverse sectors, fields, despite the "difficult" economic conditions, noting the Royal attention was key in this regard to achieve empowerment, support.

For their part, the committee's members highlighted the importance of forming a "true" partnership among the Jordanian Parliament's chambers to bring about the "desired" change in amending women legislation.

To achieve empowerment, they also underlined the importance of women engagement in various sectors and fields.

For her part, Bani Mustafa presented the study's main axes, which were based on the Global Gender Gap Report issued by the World Economic Forum.

To maintain continued coordination, the parties agreed to "carefully" consider the committee’s work mechanism and program, in addition to setting up a time-specific plan to discuss various issues related to women.
