Statement from U.S. Ambassador to Jordan Henry T. Wooster

10-01-2021 06:30 PM

Ammon News -
Many of us watched news of last week’s events at the U.S. Capitol with concern. Peaceful protest is the right of every American under the U.S. Constitution. Yet, there are some who would abuse that right. Leaders from across the spectrum have criticized those who used violence to enter the Capitol and disrupt the work of America’s democratic institutions. Law enforcement continues to pursue legal actions against those who violated the law. Congress has affirmed the democratic election of Joe Biden as President and Kamala Harris as Vice President, who will be inaugurated on January 20. These events show democracy is an ongoing process and the United States must continue to perfect our union and our democracy. I thank the many Jordanians who have offered messages of support for the United States.
