FM holds talks with German counterpart

Ammon News - Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, on Wednesday received German Foreign Minister, Heiko Maas, for a discussion on ways to boost bilateral ties and develop partnership between the two countries.

The meeting, held in Amman on the sidelines of the third ministerial meeting of the Stockholm Initiative for Nuclear Disarmament and the Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT), highlighted regional developments, including the Palestinian issue and efforts aimed to launch serious and effective negotiations to resolve the conflict on the basis of the two-state solution and in accordance with international law, the Arab Peace Initiative and the approved references.

Safadi and Maas discussed current preparations for holding the quadripartite ministerial meeting within the framework of the Munich Group, which includes foreign ministers of Jordan, Egypt, Germany, France and the European Union (EU) to finalize efforts aimed at launching serious and effective negotiations to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict on the basis of the two-state solution.

The two ministers stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to launch the negotiations to achieve peace on the basis of the two-state solution and in accordance with international law.

Safadi lauded Germany's role in supporting the two-state solution, and its continuous efforts to find political solutions to the region's crises and achieve the security, stability, growth and prosperity to its peoples.

Safadi also thanked Germany for its continued support to the Kingdom in dealing with economic challenges, which reflects the solid and strategic bilateral ties between the two countries.

Both ministers agreed to continue working toward enhancing bilateral cooperation in all fields, as well as consultation and coordinating positions on regional developments and issues.
