Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, on Wednesday received Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde, for a discussion on ways to improve bilateral ties in all fields.
The meeting, held in Amman on the sidelines of the third ministerial meeting of the Stockholm Initiative for Nuclear Disarmament and the Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT), highlighted regional developments and efforts to resolve conflicts by launching effective international efforts aimed at resolving conflicts in accordance with approved international references to achieve peace and stability and meet peoples aspirations in the region for growth and prosperity.
The two ministers also reviewed current efforts to hold an international conference this year to mobilize the necessary financial support to fill the financial deficit facing the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
They said that they will continue consultations with international partners on ways to provide sustainable political and financial support to the UNRWA via long-term financial financing mechanisms to enable the agency to continue providing its vital services to Palestinian refugees efficiently in accordance with its UN mandate.
Safadi lauded Sweden's central role in supporting UNRWA, and thanked the Swedish Foreign Minister for her active and fundamental partnership.
Both ministers agreed to continue working toward enhancing bilateral cooperation in all fields, as well as coordinating and exchanging views on regional developments and issues.
