Ammon News - Kelly Amar, whose family owns Miami Squeeze, a juice bar in Florida, was stunned to find that a loyal customer had left an eyebrow-raising tip when paying their bill.

Staff at a juice and smoothie bar in Miami Beach, Florida, were left stunned when a kind customer left a hefty tip and kind note to wish them all a Happy New Year.

Kelly Amar was waitressing at the establishment her family owns when she came across the woman's receipt which caused her to do a double-take, reports The Daily Star.

The unnamed customer paid $71.84 for the drinks they'd ordered then left a $2,021 tip on top of this (around £1,500) for those who had served her and a message wishing staff a good 2021 and saying how much they love coming there for juice.

Shocked the staff went back to the woman to check she really had meant to pay that much, thinking she'd intended to write $20.21.

Speaking to 7News, Kelly said: "It was a regular customer who comes in once or twice a week, and this was nothing we were expecting.

"When we first got the bill, we thought it was $20.21…

"We went back to her and asked, ‘Are you sure?’ and she said, ‘Yes, of course, I’m so grateful for you guys and I want to give back... I want to start the new year out right and give this to you guys.’"

In a post on Instagram, Miami Squeeze recently thanked their "amazing" customers for keeping them in business during these difficult times and addressed the kind gesture.

A spokesperson wrote: "We are just a small local juice bar and restaurant located on West Dixie in North Miami Beach.

"We can’t even begin to express how thankful and humble we are for our amazing customers who have kept us in business.

"Even though we are just a small juice bar we really pride ourselves in taking care of our guest, we’re not just in the food business we’re in the people business. We want to provide great food but even greater service.

"We always strive to make sure that everyone has a memorable experience here with us."

They added: "Last year was a tough year for everyone so we’re so grateful to be able to start this new year like this.

"We always push for excellence because we don’t want you to see us as just an ordinary restaurant. At Miami Squeeze we want you to see us as part of your family, the Squeeze Family.

"We are so blessed to have guests like these, who go above and beyond to support our small local business.

"This means so much to us and we couldn’t say thank you enough. Wishing everyone a happy prosperous and healthy new year!"

Hundreds of people liked the post, with one person replying: "Amazing! There is amazing kind people in the world that believe so much in your small business."

Another said: "This is amazing! You guys deserved it truly."
