Waitress left with "no faith in humanity" after customer leaves rude note

Ammon News - A waitress at a restaurant was left feeling despondent after a customer left a rude remark on their receipt, which was dubbed "infuriating" by fellow servers.

After a year which excelled at being devoid of uplifting news, one customer at a restaurant managed to carry on those bad vibes into 2021.

One waitress was left feeling extremely fed-up after reading a piece of "advice" left by a customer she served.

If you've ever worked in hospitality, you know it can be a tough job.

You work long hours, are on your feet all shift and people can become hard to deal with after a few drinks.

Add in working during the pandemic to the mixture and it's hard not to feel for anyone working with members of the public right now.

One of the things staff can do to protect themselves (and others!) is wearing a face mask.

And in line with the regulations, the waitress did exactly that.

So she wasn't impressed to receive a note on her receipt telling her to "learn to smile."

Charming.

To add insult to injury, the customer also tipped terribly.

The woman shared the post on Reddit - where lots of other hospitality staff were equally unimpressed.

One commented: "GROSS. As someone who was a waitress for a year and a half, I feel for you.

"You are putting your health and possibly life at risk for your job, something most people never do.

"I unfortunately see this attitude a lot with people my age (40s). Really sorry this happened to you."

At this point, lots of people felt even sorrier for the sever - as they revealed they previously tested positive for Covid.

In a reply, they added: "Thank you. Yeah it's unfortunately very common.

"I actually got COVID from work a few months ago and it kinda hurt up my body, and I still deal with people like this fairly often.

"Really kills my motivation and faith in humanity sometimes lol."

One Redditor commented: "I’m sorry about this. Some people are just horrible and will never change.

"I hope the next day brings better things for you. Hang in there and thank you for your work."

Another blasted: "Ughhhh that’s infuriating! What an a-hole that they would take the time to write a snotty note whilst tipping terribly."
