Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, and Belgium Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sophie Wilmes, held talks over the phone, Monday, on Jordan-Belgium ties and regional developments.
The talks emphasized the continued cooperation and partnership between the two countries on all levels within the Jordan-European Union partnership.
The top diplomats discussed the COVID-19 economic fallout on small economies and measures taken to cushion their impact.
Safadi praised Belgium for its support for the Jordanian economy, and Jordan's effort to grapple with hosting millions of refugees. He also commended the kingdom for its unflagging support for the two-state solution according to the pertinent international resolutions to settle the decades-long Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
He valued Belgium's role in supporting the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
Also discussed was regional developments and efforts to resolve crises in the region to achieve peace and stability.
In turn, Wilmes praised Jordan's role and efforts in achieving regional peace and stability.
