Prime Minister, Dr. Bisher Khasawneh, met with head and members of Lower House Al-Sha'eb (People) bloc, ahead of the the Parliament confidence vote.
During the consultative meeting, the premier said the government is "committed to working within the framework of cooperation and partnership with the Lower House, in accordance with the Constitution's provisions, to overcome the hardships and challenges facing the country."
Khasawneh also said Jordan is facing difficult financial and economic challenges that have "deepened greatly" due to the Covid-19 pandemic, adding the turbulent region has imposed external burdens on Jordan.
In response to the bloc's questions, remarks on energy agreements, Khasawneh said they are "not sacred and are subject to review for the public's benefit."
Regarding Attarat shale oil dossier, he indicated that the government referred the oil shale project for electricity production in Attarat area to arbitration on the ground of "gross injustice" in the power purchase agreement with Attarat Power Company (APCO).
For his part, Head of the People's Bloc, MP Abdullah Abu Zeid, underlined the importance of strengthening real executive-legislative partnership.
Moreover, the lawmaker called for the "fair" collection of taxes and fees, as well as reviewing Jordan's energy agreements.
