‏Jordan records 26 deaths and 1540 new Covid-19 infections

A total of 26 new deaths and 1,540 cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) was recorded in Jordan on Sunday.

With today’s fatalities and infections, the caseload and death toll from the disease have increased to 298,208 and 3,903 respectively, since the outbreak began in March, according to a joint Prime Ministry and Ministry of Health daily brief.

Amman saw 559 new infections followed by Irbid 513, Mafraq 107, Balqa 75, Zarqa 64, Jerash 53, Ajloun 41, Karak 37, Madaba 36, Aqaba 26, Tafileh 22 and in cases in Ma’an.

The number of cases that required admission to hospitals today stood at 86, while 85 cases have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

According to the brief, the total number of recoveries recorded Sunday, whether at hospitals or at home, stood at 2,499, bringing the total to 276,485 since the outbreak began.

Additionally, the number of cases that are still at hospitals has reached 657, including 114 on ventilators.

Also, the number of confirmed and suspected cases on ICU beds has reached 237, or 25 percent of the total ICU bed capacity.

With regard to testing, 20,893 tests were conducted Sunday, 7.3 percent of which were positive. The total number of tests conducted since March has increased to 3,232,259.
